Showing Love

Family – The Most Important Thing

Day Family-5

I couldn’t be more grateful for my family.  This time of the year makes you cherish them even more.  My parents have been a tremendous help since we have had Daisy and they love her so much.  I love watching them with her and seeing the smiles beam off Daisy’s face.

We recently had our family picture taken by our good friend Jess Maslyn.  My family has not had a family picture since the Olan Mills days. Anyone remember those???  This was Daisy’s first photo shoot with my family and with her cousin Blake.  I love how much Blake loves our sweet girl already.  Not to mention we could not be more excited for our first Christmas with our Daisy Girl.  Soaking up every moment…

Enjoy these precious snaps of my dear family.

Tis the Season for Family

True Love Week

truelove week smaller

Last week our Church had a week of community service that we called “True Love Week

Drew and I were so blessed to be part of the planning team for this amazing event!  After 5 months of vision, planning, and lots of prayer, it all came together last week!  This week was full of showing pure love and showing our community a Love like Jesus!  We prayed with the broken, fed the homeless, served the needy, and repaired buildings and schools.

True Love Week was our way to show love to neighborhoods, schools, social organizations and non-profits to put our faith in action and say “thank you” for the work that they do in the Greater Cincinnati and Dayton area.

This week was the most rewarding week I have ever been a part of and I am so blessed to be a part of Solid Rock Church!

We have always heard anytime you help someone else in need, you feel even more blessed in return.  This is exactly what happened to our church last week!  Our volunteers went out intending to bless the community (and did just that), but in return God blesses back our volunteers even greater.  This serving and giving spirit became contagious as we served our very own local community morning, afternoon, and evening.

The week ended with a 5K Color Run with all the funds supporting St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  This run was incredible and it was so fun watching it all come together.

Enjoy some pictures from an incredible week of being the Hands and Feet of Christ.

Thankful for What He Is

Give Thanks

I look at Thanksgiving as more than just a day. Its a season, a year, a lifetime of thanks! What are you thankful for?

  • Today I am thankful for the JOY I have!
  • Today I am thankful for family that love me unconditionally!
  • Today I am thankful for friends that have been so perfectly placed in my life!
  • Today I am thankful for a dark haired man that wakes me up every morning and is the most giving man I know!
  • Today I am thankful for a warm house and warm clothes to dress in this freezing weather!
  • Today I am thankful for delicious food that I will gladly partake in 😉
  • Today I am thankful for spiritual leaders in my life!
  • Today I am thankful for my church!
  • Today I am thankful for a paycheck that allows me to sew into the Kingdom!
  • Today I am thankful for the future!

We could all go on and on about what were thankful for and never stop right?  But I have found that the one key element that has given me everything, and He owns everything, and He is the one person I am forever grateful for is JESUS CHRIST!

But I’m not simply thankful for the things He does for me.  I’m thankful for Who He is.  I’m thankful that He is a God of love.  I’m thankful that He is a God of truth.  I’m thankful that He is a God of justice.  I’m thankful that He is a God of mercy.  I’m thankful that He is holy.  I’m thankful that He is sovereign.  I’m thankful that He is worthy of worship.  I’m thankful that He is righteous.  I’m thankful that He is faithful.  I’m thankful that He is creative.  I’m thankful that He is infinite, never-changing.

Saving Babies One Day at a Time

CPC Banquet 2013 - 2

I always look forward to this time of the year because my mother in-law’s annual Pro-life banquet takes place.  My mother in-law is the director at the Community Pregnancy Center in our hometown.  I have always been astonished at what she does.  She never labors in vain and every day is making a difference.

It’s so exciting to know that I can tell my kids one day that their Grandma saved the lives of innocent unborn babies and showed their mommas the Love of Christ!  It’s always a special time for our family and an enjoyable event supporting a GREAT cause.  This year the Center was honored to have Sandi Patty sing and tell her personal story of adoption and God’s will in her life.  She was absolutely incredible by the way.  Enjoy some pics here.

Reminiscing 3 Years

Nada - 4

This is a little late!  We traveled to Cincinnati (basically, our second home) to celebrate our 3 year anniversary.  My extraordinary man took me to this quaint mexican cuisine called Nada.  Our friends have raved about this place so we had to check it out.  Sitting outside Nada under beautiful lanterns and charming trees had to be one of the most romantic settings I’ve ever been in.  It was a very vintage and picturesque atmosphere.

Nada serves Mexican, but not your traditional burrito.  We kind of went all out and tried everything – chips, pork belly tacos, enchiladas!   The food was out of this world and pretty inexpensive for a date night.  Oh… Don’t forget to check out their eccentric bathrooms!

I think my favorite part of the night was when we went back to the place that Drew proposed to me.  We were devastated to find that the city had freshly painted over our graffiti from the night we got engaged 🙁  Oh well, it was still “romantical” to wander the Purple People Bridge over the windy river like we did so many years ago.

Take a look at some photos here.

Pure Religion

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress… James 1:27

We’re back from Brazil and I am finally able to sit down and share with you about the amazing work we were blessed to be a part of in Brazil!  Just a few weeks ago our team of 20 left Solid Rock Church and headed to São Paulo, Brazil to spend 9 days of caring for orphans, repairing the facilities, and ministering to the area community.

There were about 20 orphans in the orphanage that is located in the heart of the city.  I can’t even begin to tell you how incredibly beautiful each one of these precious children are to us and to God.  Their laugh, their smile, their hugs…

Just to give a background on these orphans – every one of them have either been raped, abused, left, or abandoned.  Despite the bleak circumstances, our orphanage (operated by Solid Rock Church) and the incredible staff provides everything they need… Food, clothing, beds, education, and most of all LOVE!

They all began to take our breath away as we grew closer to them each day.  We saw Jesus everywhere we went and He is continuing to work in each one of the children’s life and to provide healing to their situations.  Many memories were made as these sweet children stole our hearts!

One of my favorite parts of the trip was ministering at a community youth center in one of the worst parts of Sao Paulo.  Solid Rock Church recently took ownership an organization similar to a YMCA or Latch-Key.  Our team went into this area which is drug lord territory.  The youth center has 250 kids who are able to come in to safety, eat a meal, participate in activities and most importantly – find out who Christ is and what He can do in their life!  God is starting an amazing movement of world changers in the scariest places of Sao Paulo!

This is just the start of a massive revival in Brazil and I am excited to be a part of it!

I could not have been more blessed to go with a better team of people who were so passionate about sharing the Love of Christ.

Take a look at the photos from the trip HERE and this awesome video my husband made that shows an overview of the trip.

Cheers to Three Years

Three Year Anniversary-11

Happy Three Year Anniversary to my amazing hunk of man!  Marrying my best friend was by far the best decision I’ve ever made (besides following Jesus).  Marriage has to be one of the greatest ideas God ever thought of – companionship.  God is truly the foundation of that idea, and without Him none of this makes sense.  We have found that the key to our marriage is keeping God the center of it all.  Because of “HIM” there is a “US”.  Marriage isn’t always a fairytale.  It’s a lot of work and a lot of fun at the same time.  But I tell you, with God in the center, marriage is alot easier!  I listed just a few things that we do that make ALL the difference:

  • We take walks, talk about life, discuss our dreams, and plan out where we want to go in life
  • We are Dave Ramsey freaks!  Seven Baby Steps!
  • We pray together
  • We make sure we have girl time/dude time
  • We encourage each other
  • We have random “I love my Husband/Wife Days” – These are the best 😉
  • We travel the world together
  • We have dance parties late at night!
  • We celebrate the smaller things and accomplishments

For our three year shoot, we were blessed to find the best photographer in town!  We met Jess a few months ago when Drew built her a website and her business is now booming!  Check her out at!

Enjoy some of our pics here to celebrate 3 beautiful years of marriage!

Love Takes us to Brazil

Brazil 1

We are heading to Sao Paulo, Brazil this evening to do Kingdom Work.  Brazil is one of the leading countries in drug and sex trafficking.  Specifically, orphan children are involved in the sex trafficking and transportation of drugs just to make enough money to survive on the streets.  Solid Rock Church started an orphanage in Sao Paulo about 10 years ago.  Since that time they have graduated many kids out of the orphanage as Godly adults living an honest life and even helping at the orphanage to the younger generations.

Drew and I have always been very involved and burdened to work in foreign missions.  We both have been on several missions’ trips to Nicaragua and when we had heard about the Brazil mission we knew we had to be a part of this great work in a different continent.

Our mission while we’re down there is to make facility repairs at the orphanage, provide encouragement to the staff, and love on the sweet children that have been left by their earthly parents…. but adopted by a GREAT GOD. We could not be going with a better group of people.  God truly sends specific people into your life at just the right time and we are forever grateful for this team!  I want to thank everyone for your prayers and continued intercession while we’re down there.

Keep an eye on this website for photos and videos of what amazing experiences God takes us through!

So Much Love at the Walk

Elevation Church showing love

Elevation Church showing love

Every year we mark our calendars and prepare for the Walk for Life!  My mother in-law is the director of the Community Pregnancy Center in Middletown, Ohio.  We are always blessed to be able to be a part and support this great event that furthers the cause of pro-life beliefs and protects the lives of the innocent unborn.  I love this event because such pure love is shown by so many to help the hurting and emotionally injured in our community.  The day was filled with clowns, face painting, bouncy houses, tasty food, cotton candy, and amazing entertainment.  Enjoy some pictures of a great event here!
